Capturing Australian Landscape with Idris Murphy / 3 Day Workshop

Suitable for intermediate - advanced students.

Learn from Murphy’s deep understanding of colour. 

This workshop involves technical discussions at the start of each day and then focused work and individual attention from Idris on your work past and present with an emphasis on developing your own voice. Bring your finished works and works in progress to focus discussion and development.

Discussions and reference material around artists old and new encourages further development of individual work. 

Suggested Materials

As this workshop focuses on your own work, both oils and acrylic are welcome. 

You choose the materials however suggested materials are below:

• Drawing materials, pencils, charcoal, pastels and paper.
• Odourless solvent 
• Gel medium 
• Wax  
• Refined linseed oil 
• A range of colours (all types of paint) with attention to earth colours: burnt sienna, burnt and raw umber, terre verte, yellow ochre, red ochre or venetian red black, titanium white and zinc white (mixing white) 
• A range of other colours including reds, yellows and blues. 
• A range of brushes, a palette and some tins for mixing in. 
• Clean up rags and painting clothes
• Bring plenty of support materials - canvases of different sizes and paper to work on during the three day period
